Don’t let the rains dampen your style
Before you get drenched in the rains this monsoon make sure to get drenched in style first as you put your stylish feet forward with these fashion and make up trends that work well in the rainy season. Don’t let the rains dampen your desire to look stylish and fabulous at any time.
Let the gloom and gray stick to the rains and not your look.
Light fabrics like georgette or chiffon and even heavy ones like silk or jute should all be kept in the closet as this is not the best season to bring them out. Go for fabrics that dry quickly and also not stick to the body plus ones that are low maintenance. Cotton, linen and synthetic fabrics would be your best bet for the monsoon.
Go loud on prints as the dull monsoon needs something to brighten it up. Geometric, bizarre, quirky, kitsch, floral, asymmetrical bring out all the off-beat prints and go bold this monsoon with prints.
The bright the better is the call of the season. Keep those whites, beiges and off whites in the wardrobe as it’s better to avoid wearing them as they become transparent. Bring out all the vibrant colors of your wardrobe be it red, blue, indigo, green, pink, yellow, orange but just make sure not to wear all the colors together. Go bold on colors as the gray drab monsoon would be sidelined by your brightness.
Maxi, midis, short dresses, skirts, shorts, frocks all work well in the monsoons. Just make sure the length is above the ankle and avoid light colors as they do end up getting dirty often especially when it’s raining. Comfort should be the key here as extremely fitted dresses would make movement restricted so go for loose styles.
Trendy rompers or jump suits work well for the wet weather as they are not only high on style and come in various prints, colors and styles but are also extremely comfortable too.
Bottoms that end above the ankle should be preferred be it capris, ¾ length trousers or skirts. Even if you have to wear a full length jeans or pant to the office just fold it above the ankle while commuting and once you reach your destination then undo the folds.
Wellington boots, flats, shoes with rubber soles, small heels, water proof shoes are your best bet when stepping out in the rains. Do avoid high heels, canvas shoes and other footwear that stand a chance to get wet or are slippery. Covered shoes are your safest bet as it would keep your feet protected from the wet rains and ultimately infection.
- Rain gear
Do not miss out on the stylish rain gear that includes bright printed umbrellas, funky rain coats, water proof bags, water proof jacket, caps, gloves and other rain wear accessories to add to your stylish rain look.
- Make up
It is advised to wear minimum make up during the rains as it does gets washed out. But you don’t have to stay away from it as make up can add hotness to your monsoon look. Pop colored lipsticks in the shades of pink, coral or red are perfect to add color to your look with eyeliner to define your eyes. You can also go for the dewy look with pink eye shadow, pink blush and peach lips.
A heavy blush with light lips giving a flushed cheeks look is also making a comeback this monsoon. Smokey eyes are always in but just make sure to use a good kohl pencil that is water proof.
- Never step out without
Whenever you step out in the monsoon make sure you carry a few essentials in your water proof bag. Umbrella should top your list, next should be a water bottle as infections runs a lot during the rains so it’s better to keep clean water handy. A small hand towel or tissues in case you get wet in the rains, hand sanitizer is also a must to keep away infection, keep a hair clip or band handy as it is better to keep the hair tied during the rainy season. Do not forget to add sunscreen to your bag as the sun might be hidden behind the clouds but the harmful rays are always effective and working.
