Alistair MacLean is the popular author of books like The Guns of Navarone, Ice Station Zebra, and The Dark Crusader. He was born on April 21, 1922, and attended the University of Glasgow, where he studied English. He learned English as a second language, as was primarily trained in Scottish Gaelic during his time in Glasgow and Daviot. He joined the Royal Navy at the age of 19. He has written more than twenty-nine novels, most of which have turned out to be bestsellers. He has also written under the pseudonym Ian Stuart.
