The ultimate checklist for helping you make your D-day ultimate!
So you have decided to take the plunge and want to go down in style. For you to have your fairy tale wedding a wedding checklist is very important to make sure not a single thing is missing and things are going just the right way.
Weddings in India can be really hectic what with several functions before the main function which can leave you exhausted. The last few weeks before the weddings often involve running around for fittings, arrangements, inviting friends and family leaving the bride stressed and tired. Remember, it is your big day and you have to look radiant and feel it.
Here is how you can avoid that last minute running out and have a perfectly planned out event.
- Six months before the wedding
Work out your budget with the groom determining how much you want to spend on the entire event. Ask your families about their contribution and then work it out.
Reserve dates and venues by deciding on if you want all the functions at different venues or same.
Do the bookings for the venues, caterer and decorator. It is best to book them in advance as the best are always booked.
- Four months before
It may seem like there’s still time but once you begin with the preparations you will be so busy that you won’t have any time left until the D-day arrives.
Place orders for invitation cards
Book Musician, Photographer, DJ, Beautician, Heena artist, Hair stylist, hotels for guest, florist, wedding band for baraat
Place order for your engagement, wedding and reception attires
Inform master of the ceremony or the priest
- Two months before the big day
Time flies. You must be realizing it now as you have so much to do and so little time left. Finish off these important things off your checklist so you can concentrate on yourself now.

Decide on schedule for the wedding and slot in each component like the cake cutting, dance performances, mehendi ceremony etc.

Just a month left and now it’s time to finish off the arrangements and concentrate on you the bride to be.
Send out all the local invitations
Get in touch with all the vendors
Plan wedding and seating arrangements
Finalize the right make-up and hair do
Book yourself in to a pre bridal pampering session and enjoy
- Two weeks to go
Now is the time when you would feel that nothing has been done, your wedding outfit is not ready, the trousseau has not been packed, last minute cancellations or confirmations of guests…everything is a mess.
Take a day off and visit a spa and get a fully body massage or go for a full body exfoliation treatment. Get a haircut and color and just pamper yourself.

- On the wedding day
This is your day and you want it to be the way you must have imagined. You just sit back and enjoy as these moments are not going to come back. Delegate the work to friends and family and you have fun. Ask friends and family to make sure everything runs smoothly make sure all the guests feel welcome and comfortable.
